This was the first feature story about Joe's Basement, appearing in a Chicago free weekly arts paper. The Mole responds to it in Episode 29: "Shooting Things." It certainly has a very different tone than the more mainstream Chicago Tribune profile which appeared a few months later.

When you first see 'This Week in Joe's Basement,' you think of 'Wayne's World' from 'Saturday Night Live.' Then you say, no, this is more like that guy on Letterman, Chris Elliot.... 'This Week in Joe's Basement' takes a little getting used to, and the episodes vary widely, but the show is worth watching because it dares to be thoughtful, as well as weird."
